Walter Reinke

Walter Harold Reinke, 97, Center, passed away in his sleep on December 21, 2015 after a short stay at St. Vincent’s Care Center, Bismarck.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, December 28, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Center. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Walter was born June 26, 1918 on the family farm in Oliver County to August and Elizabeth (Cordes) Reinke. He was raised in the area and received his education at the country school. Walter married Beatrice Beckman on November 26, 1944 at the St. Paul Lutheran Parsonage in Center. They lived on the family farm and raised three children. In December 1972 they moved in to Center. Following the move, Walter continued to help his son on the farm. He also worked as a custodian for Center Public School and drove bus for a while. Walter was a member of the Center Lions Club and the Mandan Eagles. When he was younger he played in the community band. Walter was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and also as the Sunday school superintendent.

Blessed to have shared his life is his wife of 71 years, Beatrice Reinke, Center; daughter, Karen (Paul) Whitaker, Billings, MT; son, Kenneth (Darlene) Reinke, Center; six grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Soland; three brothers, Lawrence, Walford, and Ervin Reinke; two sisters, Dora Schulte and Grace Weiss; one granddaughter, Tanya Nelson; and one great grandson, Devin Spriggs.

Memorials are preferred to the Center Ambulance Service.
