Vernon Letzring, 84, New Salem, died June 1, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 7, 2013 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Center, with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Burial will be at St. Pius Cemetery, New Salem. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 pm on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Elm Crest Manor, New Salem and 4 to 7 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Center. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Vernon was born December 10, 1928 on the family farm to Oscar and Hilda (Tellmann) Letzring. He was raised on the family farm and educated in New Salem, graduating from New Salem High School. On November 18, 1950 he married the love of his life, Catherine “Cathy” Sturn. He always had great pleasure of telling everyone how they met on June 7, 1948 at Old Settler’s Days in Center and the next weekend they danced the night away at a dance in Judson. After they married, they made their home as the third generation on his family farm north east of New Salem where they shared their life and raised their two children. In 1996 Vernon and Cathy moved into New Salem. While living in New Salem, he continued to be active with his son on the farm which he cherished dearly. Blessed to have shared in his life are; daughter, Sheryl (Curt) Rohweder, Wishek, ND; son, Brian (Joell) Letzring, on the family farm in New Salem; five grandchildren, David (Tammy) Rohweder and Denise (Paul) Morman, all of Wishek and Miranda, Brianna, and Alisha Letzring, all of New Salem; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Lyle Letzring, New Salem and Douglas (Sandy) Letzring of Center. Vernon was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine “Cathy” Letzring; his parents; one brother, Oliver; and one granddaughter. Go to www.buehlerlarson.com to sign the online guestbook.
