Stanley “Stan” Buschta, 93, formerly of Center, passed away peacefully at CHI St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck on February 27, 2018.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Center, with Fr. John Guthrie celebrating. Burial will be at St. Martin’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church with a Parish Vigil/Rosary at 7 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Stan was born in Saskatchewan, Canada on April 18, 1924. He served in the US Army during WWII and was honorably discharged. In January 1945 he married Genevieve Kot in Canada and they moved to the States. From 1945 to 1970 they lived in the cities of Buffalo NY, Detroit MI, Minot, ND and Williston, ND. In the fall of 1970, Stan started working at BNI Coal in Center. The family moved to Center the following year. Stan was the Mechanics Supervisor until his retirement in 1995.
Stan’s hobbies included hunting, shooting pool, playing cards, and his dogs. During retirement, he enjoyed working on small engines for many people in the community. This activity became the social focus for Stan and his friends. He continued this until 2011 when he and Jean moved to assisted living in Bismarck
Stan is survived by his wife of 73 years, Jean; three children, Duane, Jackie, and Jim; two grandchildren, Chris and Julie; and four great-grandchildren.
