She then attended the University of Minnesota for two years.Upon returning home, she worked as a receptionist at the State Capitol for two years.
Shirley married Gaylord Williams on December 11, 1947 (on her parent's 25th wedding anniversary) at Charles Wesley Burns Methodist Church in Mandan. In 1949 they were blessed with their only child, Deborah. Shirley and Gaylord were married 66 years when he passed away in 2014.
Shirley was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She used her musical talents to accompany Children's Choir, and she even played the organ at church for a while. As an empty nester, she became a member of P.E.O. Chapter AK. Shirley enjoyed traveling to Wisconsin to spend time with her much loved grandson Seth, her daughter Deb, and her mother Helen. Shirley was greatly loved and will be forever missed by her family and friends.
Blessed to have shared her life is her daughter, Deborah Ogan, Mandan; grandson, Seth (Piper) Ogan, Fort Worth, TX; and great granddaughters, Helen and Claire Ogan.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Walter Loveland, inlaws, Albena and Warren Williams; husband, Gaylord Williams; and many extended family members and special friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Darwin Lange for his gentle care of Shirley through the years. They also thank Dr. Kimber Boyko whose surgical skills in 2008 gave Mom almost nine years of life in which she met Seth's fiancé, attended their wedding, and had some special time with her great granddaughters.
Shirley loved to read and often had her "nose" in a book, so memorials are preferred to Morton Mandan Public Library or the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
