Shirley Ann Bauer was born on February 25, 1940 in Blue Grass, North Dakota to Albert and Frieda (Weber) Bauer. Being a farm girl, she enjoyed barrel racing and competing in local Miss Rodeo pageants with her beloved horse, Silver. Shirley married Cecil Kramer on March 9, 1958 in New Salem. Together they raised four children.
Shirley was well known as the local transit bus driver in the New Salem community for 30 years, driving many community members to Bismarck, the Peace Gardens, and the Medora Musical. She enjoyed spending summer days at the cabin that she and Cecil built 46 years ago at Lake Tschida. Her daughter shared her love of pageants and together they directed the Miss North Dakota National Teenager Pageant from 1998-2008. They enjoyed their annual “girl trips” to the National Pageant in Nashville and developed life-long friendships with the other state directors. Shirley also adored her pet birds. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her only grandchild, Aurora.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Cecil, New Salem; three sons, Dave, Lake Havasu, AZ; Brad (Murrae), Mandan; and Ryan (Kari), Mandan; one daughter, Mariah (Jesse) Hill, Lincoln; one grand-daughter, Aurora Hill; two sisters, Darlene (Larry) Bakken, Killdeer and Devon (Jim) Goetz, Mandan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
