Roy “Junior” Pierce, 83, Solen, died November 5, 2012 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm CT on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 pm at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery with full military honors.
Junior was born February 2, 1929 in Mandan to Roy Sr. and Julia (Price) Pierce. Enlisting in the US Army, he served at Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri with Company D of the 6th Armored Division in the 1950’s. Junior farmed and ranched with his brother, Glen, near Timmer, ND where they raised black angus cattle and sheep. He also worked as a hired man for many neighbors and friends. Junior had a big heart and helpful hands. His wonderful sense of humor made him friends everywhere he went. His favorite pastime was driving around and stopping to visit friends in Solen and the surrounding area.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Glen; and sister, Mabel Burma; and an infant sister, Frances.
Blessed to have shared his life is his “adopted” family, Lisa and Doug Schmidt, Solen and their daughters, Sunshine Froelich, Serena Weinhandl, Shannon Nieuwsma, and Sheyenne Schmidt.
