Rose Cermak

November 27, 1919 — September 30, 2014

Rose Cermak, 94, a longtime resident of Mandan, passed away on September 30, 2014 at Sanford off Collins Care Center in Mandan.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with Father Nick Schneider celebrating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, October 3 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan with a Catholic Daughters Rosary at 7 pm followed by a time for sharing. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Rose was born November 27, 1919 in Mandan to Jacob and Clara (Wetsch) Berger. She attended school in Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School in 1935. Rose was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 94 years. On December 7, 1937 she married Charles Cermak in Mandan and together they lived and worked on the farm south of Mandan. In 1951 they moved to town where Rose worked as a secretary for Farmers Union Insurance and then as an accountant for the State Workman’s Compensation Bureau for 18 years. Rose loved to crochet and embroider and was happy to give her handmade crafts as gifts. She enjoyed bird watching and was a competitive Yahtzee player.

Rose thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at St. Alexius Hospital and comforting others was her priority. She accumulated over 14,000 volunteer hours and considered the hospital her home away from home.

Blessed to have shared her life are her three children, Charlotte (Eric) Bondeson, Bismarck, Wayne (JoAnn) Cermak, Shelton, WA, and Gordon (Rita) Cermak, Mandan; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1987; her parents; 3 siblings; daughter-in –law, Barbara; and grandson, Mark.

In lieu of flowers, Rose asked for donations to two organizations that were close to her heart. St. Alexius Auxiliary, 900 E Broadway Avenue, Bismarck, ND 58501 or Sanford Hospice, 1212 E Main Ave #1, Bismarck, ND 58501 in her memory.
