Pearl K. Heid, 89, of Bismarck, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on May 10, 2017, at Sanford Health, Bismarck.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the Mandan United Methodist Church, with Reverend Bruce Adams officiating. Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Pearl was born on March 26, 1928, to John and Caroline (Kiesel) Blaich in New Salem, ND. Pearl graduated from New Salem High School in 1947. She worked at St. Alexius Hospital for four years. Pearl met Herbert Heid in New Salem, and they married on July 12, 1952. Together they were blessed with three children. Herbert was a Boilermaker and his jobs took the family to many areas, living around the United States and finally making their home in Mandan for over 40 years. Throughout the years, they found great joy working together in their large garden which created lasting memories for their children and grandchildren. Pearl also enjoyed sewing and was very proud of her projects and clothing that she sewed.
Pearl was a member of the Mandan United Methodist Church and held officer positions in the United Methodist Women's Groups. She delivered Meals on Wheels, and has been a strong supporter and advocate for the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Pearl resided at Primrose for the last eight years and made many friends there. She enjoyed socializing, reading, and playing cards with Pinochle as one of her favorites.
Blessed to have shared her life are her children, Douglas Heid, Mandan; Wanda (John) Markel, Bismarck; Michael (Julie) Heid, Mandan; grandchildren, Jodi (Monte) Glasser, Josh (Mandi) Markel, Jesse Heid, Kristopher Heid, Cheralyn Heid (John Derwin), Matthew Heid (fiancé Dana Buffinton), David Heid; great grandchildren, Santanah and Sydney Gerhart, Dawson Glasser, Ethan Johnson, Holden, Jace and Axel Heid, Jaylah Derwin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; her sister, Irene Thomas; and brothers, Raymond and Willard Blaich.
Memorials are preferred to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, 1825 46th Street, Mandan, ND 58554.
