Oscar Hillius

Oscar R. Hillius, 84, Mandan, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Mandan United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Adams presiding. Burial will follow at Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Oscar was born January 30, 1938, in Elgin, ND to Daniel and Loretta Hillius. He was raised on a farm in Leith, ND. Oscar was passionate about his career working on farm equipment. Upon moving to Mandan, he was employed by Massey Ferguson and Bis-Man Ford Tractors.  As a Massey-Ferguson certified technician many farmers in the region relied on his expertise.   His mechanical aptitude also extended to working on his many classic cars and a general joy of tinkering.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and will be remembered by children and grandchildren for hosting 4^th of July celebrations.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Oscar loved dogs and always had a faithful companion by his side.

Oscar is survived by a son Clinton (Dianne) Hillius, a daughter, Cindy (Allen) Mack, a son, Darren (Melissa) Hillius, his sister Evon (Richard) Latuseck, and step children, Paula (Terry) Larsen, and Mark (Dee) Senn, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Bernadine and second wife, Lorene “Pat”.
