Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in Mandan. Interment will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery following the funeral service.

Mildred (Mickey) was born on October 18, 1932 to Archie and Frances (Hoffman) Brunelle in Mandan, ND. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1951. Mickey married Arthur (Art) Tokach on December 10, 1951 in Mandan. She worked at the Farmers Union Grain Elevator in Mandan as a bookkeeper for many years.

Mickey was a very talented artist which was evident already in high school where her artistic creativity was noted. While raising seven children and working she maintained an immaculate household. When her kids were grown, she had more time to express her creativity through painting, quilt making, crocheting, knitting and woodcarving. She was both meticulous and creative in all these endeavors. Mickey and Art would make trips to Nebraska for woodcarving where they made many friends and would teach woodcarving to others. Mickey also enjoyed baking, making sure there were plenty of cookies and treats to share during holidays and family celebrations.

Mickey will be deeply missed by daughters Lynn (Steve Boyle)Tokach, Aurora, CO and Lorraine (Jeff) Schwindt, Mandan; sons, David (Mary Kay), Mandan, Patrick (Sandra), Woodbury, MN, Joel (Dawn), Concord, CA and Daniel, Mandan; 9 grandchildren; Jennifer, Wendy, Brock, Troy, Nicole, John, Jeff, Jerry and Chad; and 11 great-grandchildren; Alex, France, Sarah, Brian, Jaeden, Edison, Melina, Kendal, Frankie, Jackson and Tyler; 4 great-great grandchildren; Nala, Arian, Adriana and Braden. She will also be dearly missed by many nephews and nieces including Becki Barnhart who has been a steadfast presence. Mickey was preceded in death by her husband Art, her daughter Laura, her parents, her sisters Eileen, Dorothy, Margie and Josephine and brothers Bill and Richard.

The family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood in Mandan for their care and making it a home for Mickey.
