Lyle Hoerauf

July 19, 1937 — January 11, 2020

Lyle Rudolph Hoerauf, 82, of Hebron, passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 11, 2020.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Lyle was born on July 19, 1937 in Hebron to Albert and Dora (Buchli) Hoerauf.  He attended Hebron High School and practiced ranching and farming for the majority of his life.  Lyle married the love of his life, Lynda Beth Eslick in 1954.  Together they made their home on their farm southeast of Hebron and raised their four wonderful children – Connie, Monty, Karen, and Mike.  In addition to his farming career, he was actively involved on various boards such as Mor-Gran-Sou Electric, District Farm Credit Board, and St. John’s church council.  He retired in 1993 and enjoyed the fruits of his labor with traveling to southern Texas with Lynda.  He had a passion for animals and seemed to have his favorite dog or kitten on his lap throughout the day.  Before his passing, Lyle was able to enjoy his grandchildren and great grandchildren who made him smile and laugh every time they were together.  He will always be remembered as a kind and fun grandfather who gave them rides on the John Deere tractor.

Lyle was a loving father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all.  Lyle is survived by his wife, Lynda of 66 years; daughter, Connie (Dale Heinle), Karen, Michael (Carol); 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; his sister, Hurdis Griffith; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Dora Hoerauf; sisters, Ursula Kraenzel, Ruth Rehm, and Gladys Duppong; brothers, Roland and Willard Hoerauf; son, Monty Hoerauf; and son-in-law, Duane Boehler.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Lyle’s honor to St. John’s Church in Hebron.
