Leota Fischer

Leota Fischer, 76, formerly of Stanton, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Sanford Health in Bismarck.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 26, 2019 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with Chaplain Dan Sweeney presiding.  Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday, April 25 from 5 to 7 pm at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home.

Leota was born February 4, 1943 to Aulden and Bertha (Bauer) Cahoon in Hazen, ND.  She grew up on the family farm near Hannover and attended country school.  After school, Leota moved to Minnesota to live with an aunt.  On August 4, 1961 she married her soulmate, Lawrence Fischer, in Hannover.  The two made their home on the family farm before moving into Stanton.

Leota’s family was her pride and joy.  Her most precious times were spent with them.  She was amazing at arts and crafts, including her ceramic work, cake decorating, and sewing.  She opened her own business as many local people wanted to purchase her crafts.  Leota loved animals and was known to raise many different kinds.

Left to share her memory are her children, Sharon (Jack) Reimer, Bismarck, Lawrence Jr. (Connie) Fischer, Pick City, and June (Rob)Trimble, Sioux Falls, SD; her grandchildren, Leanne (AJ), Jessica (Andy), and Brenda; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Taylor, Kyla, Kane, Angelica, Mason, and Avery.  She is also survived by her siblings, Myron (Susan) Cahoon, Kenny (Sharon) Cahoon, Arlene (Malcom) Delzer, and Roger Cahoon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; and a sister, Marie.
