Leona Golde, 85, Bismarck, formerly of Jamestown, died January 26, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Care Center, Bismarck.
A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in New Salem. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Leona was born January 11, 1933 on the family farm near Sheyenne, ND to Rolland and Opal (Corey) Briggs. She attended school through the eighth grade and later received her GED. On August 21, 1950 Leona married Lloyd Golde and they lived on a farm northeast of New Salem. They later moved to Jamestown where they spent many years together. Leona worked as a CNA at Trinity and Jamestown Hospitals. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and canning. She loved quilting and was famous for her “quillows” which everyone in the family received. Leona liked listening to old time music as well as waltz, polka, and country music. A highlight in her life was a trip to Alaska with her brother and sister-in-law.
Leona will be missed by her daughter, Kathy Golde, Bismarck; daughter-in-law, Pam Golde, Jamestown; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five sisters, Betty Schafer, Mandan, Coral Beaudoin, OR, Lorraine Skoglund, Strasburg, Barbara Schmitcke, Garrison, and Sharon Briggs, Mandan; three brothers, Charles (Mary) Briggs, OR, Lawrence (Pat) Briggs, WA, and Arnold (Sharon) Briggs, Garrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; sons, Larry and Frank; brothers, Rolland and Jack; and sister, Evelyn Johnson.
