LaVerne Helen Weber, 91, formerly of Mandan, was welcomed into heaven with open arms on Friday, January 31, 2020.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. David Swonger presiding. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
LaVerne was born March 17, 1928 near Bluegrass, ND to August and Alma (Kramer) Gappert. She grew up on the farm near Bluegrass, attending country school through the eighth grade. After schooling she went to work in New Salem, where she met Matt Weber. On May 14, 1950 they were married in New Salem. Their first home was in Riverdale, while Matt worked on the Garrison Dam. They later moved to Killdeer, and in 1965 they settled in Mandan where they raised their three children. She resided in Mandan until moving into Elm Crest Manor in New Salem in 2004, where she remained until her passing. While there, she received the most wonderful and loving care from the entire staff.
One of LaVerne's greatest dreams of attending high school came true when, at the age of 45, she received her GED. She enjoyed traveling and camping. Family gatherings were of the upmost importance to her. Spending time with her grandchildren is what she cherished most.
LaVerne is survived by her children, Lane Weber, VeraLyn Weber, and LaRissa (Patrick) Klein, all of Bismarck; grandchildren, Derek (Laura) Blotske, Shanda (Trevor) Heidt, Reid (Danielle) Roubal, Jesse Weber, Erik Anderson, Aubrie (Tyler) Steinwand, Spenser Anderson, and Lacee Weber; along with eight great-grandchildren; her brothers, Roger (Eleanore) Gappert and Gary (Hilda) Gappert; sister, Jean (Lyle) Schulz; and sisters-in-law, Elsie Buchmann and Eleanore Gappert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt; her parents; and a brother, Arden Gappert.
