Kay Stevens

JoAnn “Kay” Stevens, 77, Mandan, died February 14, 2018 at Sunset Drive – a Prospera community in Mandan.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Monday, February 19, 2018 at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with Rev. Christina Martin officiating.  Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 pm on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a prayer service at 6 pm.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

JoAnn “Kay” was born September 29, 1940 in Bismarck to Paul and Bernice (Kleinschmidt) Meidinger.  She grew up in Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School in 1958.  A wonderful mother, Kay raised her four children surrounded by love.  On January 8, 1977 she married the love of her life, Terry Stevens.  She worked periodically as a secretary, but always as a mother.  Kay was an active woman and a real go-getter.  She loved fishing and camping.  Family was everything to her and she took great pride in making holiday celebrations perfect.  She had a spunky personality and was known to start food fights while baking with family.  She treasured time with her grandchildren and was so proud when she became a great grandma.

Blessed to have shared her life are her children, Carla Fleck, Mandan, Paula (Jack) McCarthy, Leander, TX, and Michael Fleck, Mandan; four grandchildren, Kelly (Dustin) Geiger, Sean Fetzer, Jordan (Dee) McCarthy, and Kaytlyn Fleck (special friend, Brett Patzell); three great grandchildren, “her boys” Logan and Eli Geiger and Fiona McCarthy; four brothers, Leon (Myrna) Meidinger, Bismarck, Bob (MaryAnn) Meidinger, Bismarck, Bruce (Dede) Meidinger, Fargo, and Gary (Sandy) Meidinger, Mandan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Terry in 1994; and daughter, Lynne Fleck in 2006.
