Irene Kaelberer, 86, formerly of New Salem, died March 28, 2011 at Medcenter One Hospital, Bismarck, with her family by her side.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in New Salem. Burial will take place at a later date at Graceland Cemetery, New Salem. Visitation and viewing will be held on Friday, April 1 from 3 to 6 pm at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan. A closed casket visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Irene was born March 24, 1925 in New Salem to John and Elizabeth (Zarndt) Lottes. On November 22, 1946 she married Frederick Kaelberer in New Salem. They lived in New Salem and raised their three children. Irene worked for 19 years as an Aide at Elm Crest Manor. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she will be missed by all who knew her.
Left with fond memories is her husband of 64 years, Fred, Bismarck; two daughters, Kathy (Del) Nickel, Naples, FL and Julie (Steve) Schmidt, Center, ND; one son, Charles “Chuck” (Caroline) Kaelberer, New Salem; 5 grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Teerlinck, Singapore, Chris (Heidi) Nickel, Chicago, Trisha (Steve) Burke, Bismarck, Rachelle (Clay) Erickson, New Salem, and Jesse (Kori) Kaelberer, Hazen; 10 great grandchildren; and one brother, DuWayne (LaVerne) Lottes, New Salem.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Doris Bumann, Ruth Klusman, and Gertrude Lottes; and a special friend, Della Flegel.
