Ila Eckroth, 82, Mandan, died January 24, 2017 at the Bismarck Baptist Home.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
Ila was born March 14, 1934, in Linton, the last surviving of eight children to Christian and Mathilda (Jenner) Nelson. She graduated from Linton High School in 1952. On August 18, 1956, she married Michael Eckroth at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bismarck, ND. Ila worked at the Bank of North Dakota for 29 ½ years, retiring in July of 1993. Following her retirement, Ila and Michael enjoyed traveling and wintered in Arizona for many years. They loved going to their grandchildren's activities and spending time with their family. They also enjoyed camping with family and friends all of their life. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Ila will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Blessed to have shared her life is her husband of 60 years, Michael Eckroth; three daughters, Karen (Bob) Barth, Fayetteville, AR, Kathy (Dick) Ebel, Trophy Club, TX, and Karla (Dale) Hruby, Bismarck; one son, Jeff (Dorinda) Eckroth, Bismarck; ten grandchildren, Michael (Tara) Barth, Melissa Barth, Vanessa (Luke) Monteith, Jennifer (Daley) Lehmann, Kimberly (Tim) Hendricks, Jacob Hruby, Anna Hruby, Billy Eckroth, Bridget (Mike) Mehrer, and Nicole Eckroth; and 10 great grandchildren.
Ila was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, two sisters, and one granddaughter, Rebecca Eckroth.
