Ida Nell Beierlein, 80, Mandan, formerly of Glen Ullin, ND and Conway, AR, died Monday, November 29, 2010, at the Baptist Home in Bismarck. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Mandan, with Pastor Terry Moore officiating. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Ida was born on March 29, 1930 at Quitman, AR the daughter of Leyman and Ada (Fulton) Wilson. Upon completing her schooling, she moved to California where she attended beauty school. After several years in California working as a beautician, she moved to Springfield, MO to attend Bible Baptist College where she completed a degree in theology. Following her graduation from college, Ida went to California for a brief time before returning to her family in Conway, AR where she continued her work as a beautician there. In 1969, after responding to a Parade magazine article featuring "Bachelor Days" in New Salem, she was contacted soon after by William J. Beierlein. William and Ida married on September 9, 1969 in Conway and moved to their ranch northeast of Glen Ullin. Together in this union they had two daughters, Julie and Jeana. When William passed away in 1995 she moved back to Conway to live near her siblings. In 2009 she came back to Mandan to spend precious time with her granddaughters. Ida was a devout Christian whose life exemplified faith and love for the Lord. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mandan and Emmanuel Baptist Church of Conway. Ida was a caregiver to many who knew her. Over the years, she helped older ladies and children from church and the senior center in Conway. Ida loved quilting and gardening, particularly flowers of many kinds. She was also very creative with gifts in painting, drawing, and poetry. She loved her granddaughters dearly. Ida will be missed greatly by her family. She is survived by her daughters, Julie (William "Shawn") Prescott, Mandan and Jeana (John W.) Phillips, Mena, AR; two beloved granddaughters, Sarah and Katie Prescott, Mandan; two brothers, William "Bill" (Nadine) Wilson and Ray (Adina) Wilson; a sister, Jean (R. Carroll) Brewer; two sisters-in-law, Ava Wilson and Shirley Wilson, all of Conway, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ida was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; three brothers, Farris, Kenneth, and Bobby Gene; and a sister, Irma. Ida's family requests any memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Mandan and the American Cancer Society.
