Helen Weiand-Tietz, 91, Mandan, passed away April 27, 2021 at MSLCC in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 PM on Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed at the bottom of Helen's obituary page on the funeral home website.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a parish vigil at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Helen was born June 10, 1929 south of Glen Ullin, ND to Mike and Sophia (Skalsky) Schutt. She attended school in Oliver County through the eighth grade, leavings school to help her family on their farm. On June 28, 1948 she married Richard Weiand in Oliver County. They farmed for a couple of years in Mercer County and moved to Mandan in 1953. From 1954-1972 Helen cleaned houses and worked at the Mandan Eagles Club. In 1972 she started working in the Mandan Public Schools as a cook and supervisor until her retirement in 1991. In 1966 Helen joined the Eagles Auxiliary and was very active, especially into her retirement. She belonged to the ritual team and served in all offices and enjoyed volunteering because she loved being around people. Richard passed away in 1991. In 1999 Helen married Clarence Tietz and they shared 18 years together.
Blessed to have shared in her life is her daughter, Kathy Bonner, Mandan; four grandchildren, Les (Patty) Ressler, Dawn (Donnie) Albrecht, Daryl Bonner, & Tanya Bonner; seven great grandchildren, Ali, Katelyn, and Bryce Ressler, Brianna and Miranda Albrecht, Karmen Bonner, and Isabella Fischer; sisters, Loretta Spiering, WA, Veronica Kohler, OR, and Annie Newberger, OR; and brother, John Schutt, WA.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Richard & Clarence; son, Robert Weiand in 2009; daughter, Peggy Kuntz in 1994; and brothers, Jake Schutt and Steve Schutt.
