Evelyn "Mimi" Briese, 93, formerly of Bismarck, died May 4, 2015 at the Strasburg Care Center.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, May 8, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, Mandan, with Reverend Deanna Reikow officiating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, May 7 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Prayer Service and time for sharing at 7 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Evelyn was born June 9, 1921 in Mandan to Joseph and Ellen (Johnston) Simons. Raised and educated in Mandan, she graduated from Mandan High School. On August 20, 1965 she married George Briese in Dickinson. George built them a beautiful home in Bismarck. Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper for MDU for many years until her retirement. She then enjoyed trips to the casino, fishing with George, and traveling to visit family. Evelyn was a great cook and also enjoyed tending to her flowers, plants, and cats. Evelyn liked playing Pinochle with family and Cribbage every morning. Family time was important to her as well as Sunday services at First Presbyterian Church in Mandan. Evelyn, "Mimi" to those close to her, will be dearly missed.
Blessed to have shared her life is her son, Dennis (Janice) Briese, Bismarck; daughter, Diane; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; niece, Joann (Jim) Kitzmann, Mandan; numerous great nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Robin Weltz.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2003; sons, Daryl and David Briese; daughter, Donna Bassett; three brothers, Kenneth, Chester, and Donald; sister, Alice; and brother-in-law, Floyd Frankl.
