Emma Tabert

Emma Tabert, 98, Mandan, died April 29, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center, Bismarck. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Mandan United Methodist Church, with Reverends Bruce Adams officiating. Burial will be at the Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 with a prayer service at 6 pm at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Emma (Schock) Tabert was born to Edward and Bertha (Schuh) Schock on Ocotber 17, 1914 north of Hebron, ND. She was the oldest of eleven children and finished school through the sixth grade. On April 25, 1933 she married Arthur R. Tabert in Stanton and they made their home in Beulah where they operated the local hardware store. Along with the helping at the store she was a homemaker and raised six children, Deane Weidner, Larry (Donna) Tabert, Marlene Goetz, Vernon (Pat) Tabert, Rick (Sharon) Tabert and Jeanette (Dale) Wetsch. Emma was very well known for her seamstress skills through the years. She would sew in a zipper for a quarter and not charge for sewing on buttons. Emma enjoyed flowers, raising her children and in later years she looked forward to spending her time with grandchildren and heading south to Prairie Knights Casino with her daughters. Emma is survived by her children; sisters, Martha Gunsch, Lilly Sailer and Dorothy Ruff; brothers, Sig (Jo) Schock, Darold Miller; eighteen grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and twenty great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; brother, Ewald Schock; sisters, Alma Stern, Olga Koenig-Schultz, Selma Goodman and Hilda Bosch; son-in-laws, Roland Weidner and Clifford Goetz, and six great-grandchildren.
