Edgar Fredrick Klusmann, 99, New Salem, went to his heavenly home, November 9, 2016, at the Elm Crest Manor in New Salem. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 15 at Peace Church in New Salem. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 14 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Peace Church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
Edgar was born August 14, 1917, on the family farm north of New Salem, ND. He grew up there with his two brothers and five sisters. He loved farming and spent many years doing so. On June 6, 1948, he married the love of his life, Ruth Lottes. They spent 61 wonderful years together and raised three children.
The highlights of his life were his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He loved to attend their sporting events and traveling to spend time with them. He often mentioned that the grandchildren were the "apple of his eye." Edgar loved sports, especially the Minnesota Twins and the Vikings. Edgar worked for John Deere and Farmers Union Grain Elevator. For 35 years, he worked for the Morton County Road Department. He was a devoted member to Peace Church in New Salem his entire life, serving on the church council, brotherhood, and the choir.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather, Edgar was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Edgar is survived by his children, Suzanne Pryor, Republic, WA, Randy (Colleen) Klusmann, Kulm, ND, and Wendy (Dave) Muns, Wiggins, MS; grandchildren, Mike (Mava) Olson, Dave Olson, Kristin (Tony) Bauer, Melissa (Shane) Harding, Jennifer (Darryl) Wisnewski, Jason (Callie) Klusmann, Todd (Kayla) Klusmann, Nathan (Brandi) Klusmann, Ashley (Nathaniel) Haddock, Andrew Muns, and Tony Muns; 24 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; along with special nieces and nephews, Delores Klusmann, Sandy Schively, and Marvin (Gloria) Klusmann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth in 2009; brothers, Ervin and Bill Klusmann; sisters, Laura Gaebe, Dorthea Bronson, Evely Maggio, and Alta Arndt; and a great grandson, Chad Olson.
