Dorothy (Brunelle) Mulske was born on April 8, 1930 in Mandan to Archie and Francis (Hoffman) Brunelle. She was raised and educated in Mandan, graduating in 1948 with the last senior class at the old Mandan Junior High School building. Dorothy worked as a supervisor of telephone operators at Bell Telephone. While riding in a taxicab back and forth to work, she met Ray, who was driving the cab! She married Ray Mulske on November 4, 1952 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Mandan. Other than a short residence in Lead, SD, Ray and Dorothy spent their entire married life in Mandan.
Dorothy had many hobbies and interests including sewing, crocheting, embroidery, and baking. She was well-known for her delicious boska and kuchen. She regularly made sugar kuchen for weddings of family and friends. Her nine grandchildren each treasure a set of embroidered dish towels and other handmade items made with much love by Grandma.
Her greatest joy in life was being a Grandma and Great-Grandma. Many hours were spent at family dinners, with all the fixings and special treats, prepared by Grandma/Great Grandma. Family stories of the past were always enjoyed by the family, and memories were made whenever Grandma and Grandpa would be in charge.
Dorothy will be deeply missed by her husband of 62 years, Ray Mulske; three children, Becki (Mike) Barnhart, Rod (Kathy) Mulske, and Karen (Lee) Bergan; nine grandchildren, Sean (Anne) Barnhart, Tammy Mulske, Josh (Angie) Cryderman, Jared (Jenn) Barnhart, Ryan (Rosanna) Mulske, Tanya Cryderman, Emily Barnhart, Shannon (Jayson) Helseth, and Kayla Arntz; two step- grandchildren, Kristen and Eddie Bergan; ten great-grandchildren, Jude, Julia, and Elsie Barnhart, Jacob Barnhart, Greyson Barnhart, Jonah Helseth, Victoria Mulske, Mason Cryderman, and Caden and Carter Barksdale; and her sisters, Mickey Tokach and Margie Malmend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill and Dick Brunelle; sisters, Eileen Brunelle and Josephine McCabe; and one son, Keith.
