Dorothy Becker

Dorothy Becker, 95, died March 3, 2023, at Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, ND. A grave site service will be held this summer at Bethel Cemetery in rural New Salem.

Dorothy Henrietta Fredricke Kaelberer was born May 2, 1927, south of New Salem at the family homestead, the daughter of John and Hilda Kaelberer. She graduated from New Salem High School in 1945.

Dorothy married Donald Becker on June 9, 1948. They farmed the Kaelberer homestead south of New Salem until the fall of 1991, when they retired and moved into New Salem. In her later years, she moved into Elm Crest Manor where she was blessed there to be surrounded by her life-long community and family.

Dorothy was a woman of immense faith and was very active in the community and church. She served several years as the Sunday School Superintendent at the Bethel church. She was also a 4-H leader for several years which gave her great pride and pleasure.

She is survived by her brother, Robert; daughters, Leslie (Melvin) Lennick and Cheryl (Steve) Strinden; daughter-in-law, Kristi Becker; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hilda; husband, Donald; son, Craig; sisters, Lorraine and Betty Jane; brothers, Henry and Donald; and grandson, Charles.

Memorials are preferred to the Salem UCC Church in New Salem, ND.
