Donna Lou (Purcell) Loehrke, 84, Bismarck, formerly of Judson, died November 14, 2013 at Sanford Health, Bismarck.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Reverend Thomas R. Marcis Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, New Salem.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 4:30 pm on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a prayer service at 4:30 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Donna was born November 30, 1928 to John and Elsie (Eamon) Purcell in Lansford, ND. On October 5, 1951 she married Grant Loehrke. They lived in Judson where she stayed home with the children. When their children were younger she did spend time on the road with Grant. After the kids were grown, they moved to Fort Rice where they spent a lot of time fishing and gardening. After Grant retired in 1988 they spent winters in Arizona where they enjoyed gardening all winter long. In 2008, due to health reasons, they moved to Bismarck. Donna enjoyed baking, gardening, and embroidery. She made towels, tablecloths, and each grandchild had a blanket that she made.
She is survived by five children, Donald Loehrke, Deborah Mindt, and Patty (Rick) Borner, all of Bismarck, Brenda (Kevin) Borner, Washburn, and Dennis Loehrke, Bismarck; six grandchildren, Melissa (Shawn) Sullivan, Manhattan, KS, Samantha Borner, Bismarck, Caitlin Borner (fiancé, Ethan Wacker), Mercer, Hanna Borner (Josh Hulm), Minot, Kayle Borner, Washburn, and Matthew Loehrke, Bismarck; one great grandchild, Ember Sullivan, Manhattan, KS; sister, Gladys (Don) Chrislock, Chula Vista, CA; sisters-in-law, Jean Loehrke, Bismarck, Joyce Morman, FL, and Joann (Jim) Arney, MT; and Lolly, her dog.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Grant, on March 29, 2013; her parents; sisters, Margaret (Bill) Jessen, Mabel (Bob) Jacobsen, Mary (Glenn) Jensen, and Dorie (Shorty) Hettich; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, James Loehrke Sr. and Jack “Dale” (Lydia) Loehrke.
Memorials are preferred to Dakota Boys Ranch.
