Darrin Lee Schwagler, 50, Mandan, died June 10, 2011 at his home. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem, with Reverends Russell Fitch and Irvin Bruenjes officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in New Salem.
Visitation will be held from 2-7 pm on Tuesday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Chapel in New Salem. A family prayer service will be held at 7 pm following the visitation. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday morning. Darrin was born January 23, 1961 in Bismarck to Lester and Delores (Maier) Schwagler. He was baptized February 26, 1961 by Reverend Adolf Brand and confirmed in 1975 by Reverend Irvin Bruenjes. Raised and educated in New Salem, he graduated from New Salem High School in 1979. Darrin went on to attend NDSU, studying Agriculture Economics and graduated in 1983. During his senior year, he was President of the NDSU Rodeo Club. On August 11, 1989 Darrin married Jane Seiler in Bismarck. Hard-working and dedicated, he started work for Farm Credit Service in Carson, transferring to Mandan in 1989. Currently he was Senior Loan Officer and Branch Manager in Mandan. Generous and giving of his time and talents, Darrin was involved in the New Salem Saddle Club and Mandan Horse and Saddle Club and had served as an elder at Zion Lutheran Church. Darrin was very active in all rodeos and was a mentor to young students who were interested in agriculture. He also enjoyed coaching youth football and basketball in Mandan. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting with friends and relatives. Nothing made Darrin more proud than his two children. He loved attending and cheering Tate on in rodeo and wrestling and Teddi in hockey and rodeo. Blessed to have shared his life are his wife for 21 years, Jane, Mandan; his beloved children, Tate Joseph and Teddi Rose, both of Mandan; father, Lester and Linda Schwagler; mother, Delores and Tony Goetz; sisters, Debra (Russell) Bubach, West Fargo and Darla (Jerald) Brewer, Renton, WA; Jane's family: his father and mother-in-law, George and Rose Seiler, McIntosh, SD; sisters-in-law, Janet (Joe) Mollman, McIntosh, SD, Connie (Jeff) Maier, Morristown, SD, and Kristi (Jim) Lane, Harlowton, MT; brothers-in-law, Terry Seiler, Roberts, MT, Tom Seiler, Spencer, SD, Greg Seiler, Ely, NV, Jeff (Dawn) Seiler, Aberdeen, SD, and Rock (Shar) Seiler, McIntosh, SD; aunts and uncles, Edgar (Evelyn) Schwagler, Bob (Ardella) Schwagler, Jerry Maier, and Shirley (Dave) Heil; 9 cousins, Tim, Rocky, and Todd (who were like his brothers), Angela, Vicki, Nadine, Kristie, Steve, and Jeff; many nieces and nephews; step-sister Shari (Bill) Masse, Bismarck; and an endless list of friends. Darrin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leopold and Christina Schwagler and Herman and Hilda Maier; aunt and uncle, Della and Arnold Flegel; uncle, William Maier; and nephew, Jordan Bubach.
Memorials are preferred to the New Salem Saddle Club.
