Darlene Kukuk, 72, New Salem, died August 29, 2011 at Medcenter One Hospital, Bismarck.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, September 2, 2011 at Peace Church in New Salem with Reverends Joshua Eddy and Jeanine Kersey-Russell co-officiating. Burial will be at Peace Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 2-3 pm at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem and continue from 3:30 to 8 pm at the Buehler-Larson Funeral Chapel in New Salem. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Darlene was born January 21, 1939 in Beulah to Arthur and Leona (Miller) Fischer. She graduated from Beulah High School in 1958. On June 4, 1958 Darlene married Edward Kukuk at Peace Church in New Salem. They farmed together northeast of New Salem until Edward’s death in 1987. Darlene remained on the farm.
Darlene will be remembered for her gentle, loving, and nurturing way. She was a care giver all of her life. She became a Certified Nurses Aid and worked in home health care and at Elm Crest Manor. She touched many lives over the years. Darlene also enjoyed gardening and cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
Left with many fond memories is her daughter, Rev. Terry Kukuk (Rev. Brad Sheppard), Mexico, MO; two sons, William Kukuk, New Salem and Allen (Sheila) Kukuk, Williston; 3 grandchildren, Katelyn Kukuk and Jadon and Ian Kukuk Sheppard; 5 sisters, LaVonne (Paul) Mueller, Beulah, Dorothy Becher, Glen Ullin, Wanda (Paul) Hartman, Billings, MT, Esther Fischer, and Arlys Fischer, both of Bismarck; 5 nephews; and 2 nieces.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Rose Fischer, and brothers, Gene, Leslie, and Ervin Fischer.
