Christopher James was born July 16, 1982 in Linton, ND, to James and Angelika. Chris spent the entirety of his childhood in Linton, and graduated from high school in 2000. Under the guidance of his Grandpa Albert Sr. on the family farm, Chris discovered the passion for tinkering and fixing vehicles. The time he spent on the family farm performing chores such as milking cows, feeding calves, and tending the fields would help him grow into the man he was. Chris would spend his free time on the farm developing a passion for hunting, fishing and anything outdoors.
Through mutual friends, Chris met the love of his life Amanda in 2010. They would go onto get married and start a beautiful family in 2013. From their union, Asher, Brynlee, and Taylynn were welcomed into this world. Chris came to know ultimate happiness in watching the result of his and Amanda's love through the birth and growth of his children. He enjoyed spending time with his kids on various adventures including sports, 4H activities, and teaching them life skills. One of his favorite pastimes was staying at home working on his various vehicles or house projects with his family. Chris became a jack of all trades through making Amanda's vision of the perfect family home into a reality. He enjoyed involving his kids and wife in the process of the house renovation. On the rare times you would get him away from home, Chris would enjoy riding his motorcycle, going to concerts with his wife, and hunting with his nephew/Godson Brady and son Asher. Chris would end up passing on his love for Ford trucks to his kids through his ongoing collection of pickups from different decades. He also had a passion for restoring old tractors. He was very proud of the three tractors he acquired to pass onto each of his children. His collection of trucks and tractors would extend beyond that to involve other odds and ends that as in his words "you never know when you might need it". Along with being a great family man and provider, Chris was known to his friends as an exceptional person due to his willingness to help out with any projects where he could put his skills to use.
He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2001 where he would retire as a Sergeant First Class after 21 years of service. In 2004, Chris received his welding certification starting his career path that led to his employment at North American Coal/Coteau Freedom Mine. During his 11 plus years at Coteau, he held responsibilities as a D-Rate Welder, task trainer/mentor, and member of the DLM improvement committee. He found success at the mine by overcoming any task he was challenged with. His coworkers at the mine would all agree that he was easy going and great to work with. He was a great friend, coworker and employee of the mine.
He is survived by his wife Amanda; son, Asher and daughters: Brynlee and Taylynn; father, James Noel; mother, Angelika (Perry) Voegele; sister, Tamara (Nate Bauer) Roehrich and brother, Jesse Noel; step-brother, Brandon (Vanessa Fox) Voegele; step-sister, Tanya (Travis) Ell; grandmother, Beverly Noel; father-and-mother-in-law: Joe and Kathy Hammer; brother in-laws: Brian (Allison) Raftevold and Justin (Jackie) Hammer; sister-in-law, Samantha (Wade Felton) Hammer as well several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and all who called him friend.
