Carlene was born April 8, 1949, in Bismarck to Arthur and Genevieve (Rask) Weiss. She attended country school through 8th grade and then graduated from New Salem High School in 1967. On September 16, 1967, Carlene married Jerry L. Just in New Salem. They bought a farmstead northeast of New Salem where Carlene worked alongside Jerry farming and milking cows for 24 years. Upon retiring from farming in 1992, Carlene entered the workforce and most recently held the position of administrative assistant for Mariner Construction in Bismarck where she was employed for the past 15 years. She enjoyed decorating cakes, sewing, crocheting, reading, and tending to her flowers, yard, and home. Family was the most important thing to her and she also enjoyed camping, boating, and trail rides with her children and grandchildren. Jerry and Carlene enjoyed the trips they took to visit their family throughout the country.
Carlene was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April 2013. Courageous throughout her battle, she fought until the end. Generous and kind, Carlene was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, who will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Blessed to have shared her life is her husband of 46 years, Jerry L. Just, New Salem; four children, Charlotte (Mitchell) Erhardt, Poulsbo, WA, Candi (Stuart) Glass, Potter, NE, James (Rebecca) Just, Highlands Ranch, CO, and Joel (Kristen) Just, Bismarck; 10 grandchildren, Patricia (Nicholas) Thompson, Travis Erhardt, Brooke and Seth Glass, Taylor and Kennedy Just, and Bradyn, Brycen, Emily, and Braxton Just; her mother, Genevieve Weiss, New Salem; brother, Arlon (Arlene) Weiss, New Salem; and her nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
