Anne Heid, age 92, passed away peacefully at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem on February 19, 2015.
Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held at a later date.
Anne was born on a farm north of New Salem on January 10, 1923 to Karl (Charley) and Florence (Hagerman) Westermann. When Anne was young, the family moved to a farm just southwest of the Heid family farm where she met her future husband, Fred. Anne attended grade school in Sims, ND and high school in New Salem. On July 19, 1941 she married Fred Heid Jr. They lived with Fred’s parents, Fred Sr. and Bertha Heid, until 1942 when Fred and Bertha moved to New Salem.
Anne loved the outdoors and helping out on the farm, whether it was field work or during calving season. She was always willing to go out in the middle of the night to check cows. Anne continued to live on the farm after Fred passed away in 1983. During the summer she spent most of her time in her flower gardens and mowing the lawn.
Anne was one of the founding members of the Miles Around Homemakers and helped with many projects for her girls 4-H activities. She sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school for many years at the Peace Church in New Salem. Anne loved spending time with her family and was always ready to “pound the table”. She loved playing cards, even after she moved to Elm Crest Manor in 2010.
Anne will be missed by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her children are Terril Marsh Dolwig (Mark), Jacquelyn Heid, and David (Tami) Heid; four grandchildren, Jason (Corrine) Marsh, Kyle (Rebecca) Deming, Brent (Kerry) Heid, and Michele (Sean) Burger; 7 great grandchildren, Aspyn and Autumn Marsh, Zazel and Tiberius Deming, Paige and Taylor Heid, and Grace Burger; her sister, Grace Westermann; sister-in-law, Milly (Raymond) Heid; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; brother, Albert Westermann; sisters, Elsie Johnson and Dorothy Powers; and a grandson, Zachariah Deming.
