Anna was born May 12, 1923, in New Salem, ND to William and Elsie (Kukuk) Heid. She grew up in the New Salem area and graduated from New Salem High School. Upon graduation she moved to Mandan, where she met Ben “Bennie” Kottsick. They were married on September 16, 1945, in New Salem. They made their home on Ben’s family farm, south of Mandan, where the two farmed together for many years.
Anna loved her yard and tending to her flowers. She took great pride in her flowers and really enjoyed the time spent keeping everything looking good, especially after retirement from farming. She also had a love for baking; her Twisties and Kolaches were well renowned within the family. Family members would always look forward to their birthday as they knew that Anna would have her special “Twisties” waiting for them. After their retirement, Ben and Anna loved to travel. They were fortunate to visit all 50 states, along with taking a trip to Germany and several cruises. It wasn’t hard to convince them to take a trip with family members. Her most precious times came when she was with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they were so special to her. Anna will be deeply missed by all.
