Allyn Richard Lennie, 77, New Salem, died January 7, 2019 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Peace Church, New Salem, with Rev. Joshua Eddy officiating. Cremation has taken place and the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Inurnment will be at Peace Cemetery, New Salem.
Allyn was born May 15, 1941 in New Salem to John and Elsie (Baumgarten) Lennie. Raised and educated in New Salem, he graduated from New Salem High School in 1959. On August 11, 1961 he married Darlene Hoesel. Allyn worked at Security First Bank in New Salem for many years and also farmed and ranched. He was an active member of Peace Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and served on the church council. He also served on the Elm Crest Manor Board. A talented musician, Allyn liked playing clarinet and alto saxophone with his band for many weddings and anniversaries. Allyn liked to keep busy and was always building or fixing things. He was talented at all types of carpentry and loved going fishing.
Allyn is survived by his wife of 57 years, Darlene Lennie, New Salem; two children, Vicky (Phil) Wetzel, Hot Springs, SD and Jeffrey (Faye) Lennie, New Salem; six grandchildren, Schuyler Wetzel and Philip Wetzel Jr., Travis (Karli Jo) Lennie, Desiree (Evan) Willman, Mikayla Lennie, and Jaret Lennie; two sisters, LaVonne (Gary) O’Dell, Las Vegas, NV and Janet (Jerry) Hillstrom, Burnsville, MN; and one brother, LeRoy (Mary) Lennie, Hazen.
Allyn was preceded in death by his parents.
