Alice Wetzel

Alice Wetzel, 83, Glen Ullin, died August 3, 2019 at Marian Manor Healthcare Center, Glen Ullin.

Services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, Glen Ullin with Reverend Toby Heller officiating.  Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery in Glen Ullin.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Alice was born April 12, 1936 in Glen Ullin to John J. and Helen (Kitzan) Opp.  She was raised and educated in Glen Ullin.  On April 13, 1954 Alice married Herman Wetzel.  They worked together for 40 years operating their dairy farm where they also raised their seven children.  After Herman’s death in 1994 Alice moved into Glen Ullin where she worked at Marian Manor Healthcare Center for 13 years.  Alice was well known for her sour cream and honey cookies and also for her beautiful quilting and cross stitch.  A beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, Alice will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Blessed to have shared in her life are her six children, Daryl (Loretta) Wetzel, Lincoln, Curt (Marie) Wetzel, Glen Ullin, Dwight Wetzel, New Salem, Larry and Pat Wetzel and Lori (Ron) Schaaf, all of Glen Ullin; eleven grandchildren, Ryan, Jessica, Michael, Jeremy, Leslie, Kyle, Melinda, Jordan, Derrick, Levi, and Dallas; thirteen great-grandchildren, Sophia, Kieyera, Makiyah, Donovan, Sierra, Skyler, Livvy, Jaxon, Addison, Avery, Langston, Brekka, and Paisley; three sisters, Helen Bickel, Bismarck, and Hilda (Gary) Gappert and Gladys (Roland) Fischer, all of Mandan; two brothers, Marvin Opp, Glen Ullin and Johnny Opp, Bismarck; brother-in-law, Roy Heinle, Glen Ullin; and sister-in-law, Minnie Wegerle, Witchita, KS.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman; son, Ricky; grandson, Cody; granddaughter, Miranda; brothers, Ray, Emil, and Adam Opp; sister, Florence Heinle; and brother-in-law, Delmar Bickel.
