Mary Weekes

Mary L. Weekes, 89, of Flasher, ND passed away February 26, 2022 at her residence from natural causes.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 4th at the United Lutheran Church of Almont, ND with Pastor William Dodd officiating.  A luncheon will follow the service and burial will be held in the Bethel Church Cemetery, rural New Salem.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in Mandan with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service.

Mary was born September 15, 1932 in Mandan, ND to August & Erna (Merting) Wiechman.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  Mary attended the Spring Valley School #4 and later graduated from New Salem High School in 1949.  She married Donald E. Weekes on Sept. 15, 1949.  They lived near Flasher, ND for many years before moving to the Judson area in 1970.  Mary and Don raised three daughters and the family worked together raising cows, horses, and sheep over the years.

Mary loved gardening and rock hunting.  She enjoyed collecting fossils and unusual rocks.  Mary also loved spending time with family and writing about local historical events.

She is survived by two daughters, Louise (Tom) Noonan of Solen, ND, & Donna (Scott) Neumiller of New Salem;  nine grandchildren, Michelle Lange, Marcy (Eric) Gabbert, Michael (Terra) Noonan, Mark (Korrie) Noonan, Matthew (Tanya) Noonan, Holly (Donovan) Stewart, Krystal (Ryan) Burgard, Cody Neumiller, and Colton Neumiller;  thirteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren and 1 step great-great grandchild; one brother-in-law, Eugene Weekes; four nieces and one nephew.

Mary was preceded by her parents, husband Donald (May 2000), daughter Linda Weekes Thomas (1999), son-in-law Pete Thomas, one brother Gerald Wiechman, and two sisters-in-law Eunice Weekes & Ilene Wiechman.
